ISSUE 8: HELLAS- Free at last
1821 - 1974

Inspired by the successful declaration of Independence of the United States of 1876 and America’s  anthropocentric constitution based on democratic principles that were first proclaimed and practiced 25 centuries earlier in Classical Greece, the Greeks begin their war of independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1821 and struggle to re-Hellenize the country culminating in the Athens Olympics of 2004 confirming that modern Greece is indeed inheritor of the Glory that was Greece! November 2008

Parts of Greece [Hellas] are liberated over a century:

  1. South of Mt. Olympus in 1828.
  2. Ionian Islands in 1861.
  3. Macedonia and Thrace in 1912.
  4. Crete in 1913.
  5. Pontos and Smyrna, regions that were Greek since the Trojan War are lost in the 1922 Catastrophe;
  6. Dodecanese Islands in 1945.
